Sadi Abdülbâkî Efendi, one of the 18th century divan poets, was born in Van. He is the brother of the famous poet Durrî-i Yek-Cheshm Efendi from Van and Salih Efendi, who wrote poems with the pseudonym Feyzî. Coming from a poet family, Sadi Efendi received a good education. He established good relations with the notables of the state at a certain period of his life. First of all, including Sultan III. Ahmed, he wrote praises to many viziers, grand viziers and statesmen, and dates were dropped for events such as their weddings, births and promotions. Sadî Abdülbâkî translated Idris-i Bitlisî’s eight thousand couplets Persian Hesht Behisht into Turkish upon the order of Mahmud I. It is also known that the poet wrote Persian and Turkish poems. Sources that give information about the poet mention him with praise, stating that he is a polite, verbal, and knowledgeable person. It is not known whether the poet had a divan or a divan, except for a few of his poems in tezkires. The poet's poems are scattered in the divan of his brother, Dürrî-i Yek-Cheshm Efendi, and are mostly found in alleys. In this study, information about the life and literary personality of Sadî Efendi, whose biography and poems have not been studied in detail until today, was given and twenty-four poems of the poet, which were not published before, were translated into translation.

18. yüzyıl divan şairlerinden olan Saʿdî Abdülbâkî Efendi, Van’da dünyaya gelmiştir. Vanlı meşhur şair Dürrî-i Yek-çeşm Efendi ve Feyzî mahlası ile şiirler yazan Salih Efendi’nin biraderidir. Şair bir aileden gelen Saʿdî Efendi, iyi bir eğitim görmüştür. Hayatının belirli bir döneminde, devletin ileri gelenleri ile iyi ilişkiler kurmuştur. Başta Sultan III. Ahmed olmak üzere birçok vezir, sadrazam ve devlet adamına methiyeler söylemiş, onların düğün, doğum, terfi gibi olaylarına tarihler düşmüştür. Saʿdî Abdülbâkî, I. Mahmud’un emriyle İdris-i Bitlisî’nin sekiz bin beyitlik Farsça Heşt Behişt adlı eserini Türkçeye tercüme etmiştir. Ayrıca şairin Farsça ve Türkçe manzumeler kaleme aldığı bilinmektedir. Şair hakkında bilgi veren kaynaklar ondan övgü ile bahsetmekte, nazik sözlü ve çeşitli ilimlere vâkıf bir kişi olduğunu belirtmektedir. Şairin tezkirelerde yer alan birkaç şiirinin dışında, bir divan veya divançesi olup olmadığı bilinmemektedir. Şairin şiirleri kardeşi Dürrî-i Yek-çeşm Efendi’nin divanında dağınık ve çoğunlukla derkenarlarda bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, bugüne kadar biyografisi ve şiirleri hakkında etraflı bir çalışma yapılmamış olan Saʿdî Efendi’nin hayatı, edebi kişiliği hakkında bilgi verilmiş ve şaire ait daha önce yayımlanmamış olan yirmi dört manzume çeviriyazıya aktarılmıştır.
