After the general election, the fourth multiparty political transition to life in the 1957 elections, Turkey has an important place in Turkish political history. These elections, which would normally be held in 1958, were taken one year earlier by the government. The ruling Democrat Party (DP), the opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), the Freedom Party (HP) formed by those who resigned from the DP, the Republican Nation Party (CMP), Vatan Party, and Peasants’ Party entered the elections.
