Music, which has a unifying power and universal quality, similar to cinema, carries the traces of the society from which it was born and reunited, regardless of the kind, and finds a response in the meaning world of the individuals in that society. When it comes to Turkey, arabesque music that has existed at the social level from in the first examples of the 1960’s to the present day, and the arabesque culture associated with this style of music It has also found its reflections in art branches that feed on society like cinema. Arabesque's social place and its importance and its point of view to arabesque culture and music from social perspective makes it important to be revealed by the movie named Müslüm (Ketche & Can Ulkay, 2018), which is based on the life story of Müslüm Gürses who is one of the important names in arabesque music, why it is watched, how it is read and at what points and in what way it is satisfied by the audience. In this context, the scope of this study was to understand why / for what purpose viewers watched the movie of Müslüm and how they read and interpreted it, we collected data from 200 viewers who have different demographic characteristics through an online questionnaire by snowball sampling.The study is theoretically based on the uses and gratifications approach, and the data obtained from the audience of Müslüm movie were analyzed within the framework of the categorization in McQuail's (2010). As a result of the investigations made, it has been observed that the majority of the viewers assume they have an active audience role in the process of reading the movie. In addition, although there are similarities at some points in meeting the expectations of the audience, it is seen that social origins are determinant in individual differences and observed that some unforeseen effects have occurred.
