Turkey’s experience of being a metropolitan which started in the 1980s and continued with the reform works of the 2000s; with the law no.6360 in 2012, a new period has been attained with a total of 30 metropolitans in the Turkish Local Management System. The new structure that brings difficulties in terms of quality and efficiency; rehapes the issue of urban life, urbsn services and citizens to make sense of all these. In the study changes, transformations and expectations, urban life that is formed with Malatya being the metropolitan on the list of the new metrepolitans with the law no 6360 will be handled in the presence of the urban people with an empirical study.

1980’li yıllarda başlayan Türkiye’nin büyük kent olma deneyimi, 2000’li yılların reform çalışmaları ile devam etmiş; 2012 yılı 6360 sayılı kanun ile Türk Mahalli Yönetim sisteminde toplamda 30 büyükkent ile yeni bir döneme gelinmiştir. Nitelik ve etkinlik açısından zorluklar getiren yeni yapı; kentsel yaşam, kentsel hizmetler ve kentlilerin tüm bunları anlamlandırması konusunu da yeniden şekillendirmektedir. Çalışmada, 6360 sayılı kanunla yeni büyükşehirler listesinde yer alan Malatya’nın, büyük kent olması sonrasında kentsel yaşama dair oluşan değişim, dönüşüm ve beklentiler, ampirik bir çalışma ile kentsel halk nezdinde ele alınacaktır.
