Sevgi Soysal is considered as an important representative of Turkish novels and short stories. In her Works from each other different topics and themes can be seen. It seems that especially her stories are rich in terms of themes. The themes are both individualistic and collectivistic, but the individualistic ones are strikingly structured. The themes can be defined as depression, distress, loneliness, severity, war, city and individual. They highlight an individual’s place in the world, her/his changes, dilemmas and her/his interactions with other individuals and outside world. By doing so, Soysal’s Works shedlight on all aspects of an individual after 1960. In other words, Soysal aims to analyse an individual’s changes, the intention of being self and other aspects by focusing on the image of an individual in the 1960s.
The goal of this study is to analyse characters described in Sosyal’s works in terms of the themes mentioned above. In doing so, the study aims to examine how an individual develops and changes by shedding light on the individual of that time. At the same time, it will also shed light on that time from many aspects with an individual-focused analysis. Therefore, this study aims to analyse an individual and what s/he associates with.
