The main aim of this study is to evaluate performances of academics within “public administration” and “politics and public administration” departments of Turkish universities in Turkey, using two distinctive criteria, namely incentive premiums provided by the universities to academic personnel in accordance with Academic Incentive By-Law and data provided by Google Scholar Citations.
Academic Incentive By-Law, despite its insufficiency in some dimensions, provides a multi-dimensional academic performance evaluation through using such academic activities as international conference papers, projects and research undertaken within the calendar year, patents and awards taken by academic personnel, not only such classical publications as books and journal articles. The other criteria, Google Scholar Citations, lists 5000 academics in Turkey which are cited by other scholars, both national and international, according to the number of citations each academic personnel has gathered within a calendar year. This study strives to evaluate academic performances academic personnel within Turkish universities who are currently working for Public Administration and politics and public administration departments, through presenting the results of a research into performances of academic personnel within these departments using hitherto mentioned criteria.
