The animal style, which developed in Central and Inner Asia in the pre-Islamic period, includes works of art with animal figures depicted with certain characteristics. This style, which developed in the steppe life, was used as an ornamental element in the composition of many works of art, not only in Central Asia, but also spread to Asia Minor and Central Europe. The animal style has continued for a long time in the artworks of various civilizations, spreading to almost all continents over time and has become a symbol describing a certain theme or an event. The reason why this style spread over such a wide geography is that the nomadic people living in the steppe under difficult conditions establish close relationships with animals and attribute different meanings to them according to their own beliefs. Turtles seen with animals such as dragons and snakes in many works; It symbolizes creation, cosmic order, eternity and stability. In this study, the meaning of the turtle figure seen in different parts of the world in folk beliefs and what it represents will be examined mythologically and it will be determined how it takes place as an ornamental element in the compositions of Anatolian weavings.
