The words uttered by Prophet Mohammed ( pbuh) had the feature of being succint. One of his words that contained much meaning with less statement was the intention hadith. The hadith “ actions are according to intentions” constitutes an important source in Islamic law. This hadith, which is a source of all worships and legal actions, has a preeminent importance as having substantial feature like intention. In this sense, Islamic scolars have deduced three general principles that constitute the philosophy of Islamic law. In particular, the validity of the field of worship of Islamic law completely depends on the intention. İntention is essential for actions to get spiritual identity.

Hz. Muhammed (sav)’in sarf ettiği sözler cevâmiu’l-kelim özelliğini taşırdı. Az lafızla çok manayı ihtiva eden sözlerinden biri de niyet hadisiydi. “Niyet Hadisi” adı altında meşhur olan Rasulullah’ın “Ameller niyetlere göredir.” ifadesi, İslam hukukunda önemli bir kaynaklık teşkil eder. Tüm ibadet ve hukuki işlemlere kaynaklık eden bu hadisin önemi ve temel teşkil etme özelliği niyet gibi ehemmiyetli bir vasfa sahip olmasıdır. Bu bağlamda İslam âlimleri mezkûr hadisten İslam Hukuk Felsefesini oluşturan üç tane külli kaide çıkarmışlardır. Özellikle İslam hukukunun ibadet alanı geçerlilik konusunda tamamıyla niyete bağlıdır. Yapılan amellerin manevi bir kimlik kazanması için niyet şarttır.
