The main aim of this study is to determine the perceptions of Islamic Sciences Faculty Preparation and final year students about “teacher” and “my teachers” concepts via metaphors, and to investigate the developments and changes in their judgements throughout their school life. The study is qualitative; and phenomenological research design was employed. In order to set forth the perceptions of preparation and final year students about determined concepts, a form with 2 open end questions was used as data colleting tool. The students were requested to complete the sentences of “…is like/similar; because…”. In the analysis of the collected data, frequency, percentage calculations and content analysis solution technique were used. And, 69 and 61 metaphors for “teacher” and “my teachers” concept were produced, respectively, by 127 students whose answers were valid. In the first three of the metaphors produced for the concept of teacher, the sun, mother, candle; and for the concept of my teachers, the first three metaphors of light, lantern and Prophet’s companions took place. 7 conceptual categories were formed after studying the metaphors produced by the students in terms of common properties. With the help of the data obtained from preparation and final year students, the effects of the school process on students’ judgements about “teacher” and “my teachers” were measured metaphorically; and then evaluated by comparing them with each other. By making use of the metaphors that emerged, it was observed that significant changes occurred in students' perceptions of the concept of “teacher” and “their teachers” throughout the faculty education. The established changes were investigated; and then positive and negative aspects were determined; and, finally, several offers were made.
