In this study, it was aimed to determine why and how the changes that Van has gone through from a very cosmopolitan structure to a homogeneous social structure over time. While achieving this goal, the studies of both the Ottoman and foreign states, especially Russia, regarding Van's population structure were taken into consideration. In particular, the facts that emerged as a result of comparing the reports obtained from the Russian Foreign Affairs Archive with the Ottoman data were carefully examined and objective data were tried to be reached by taking into account the political and political events that took place in this period. In the study in which official publications were also evaluated, it was seen that while foreign states evaluated the demographic structure of Van through ethnicity, the Ottomans mostly evaluated the population structure over religion. With the declaration of the Republic, more detailed studies were tried to determine the demographic structure of Van on a proportional basis. The difficulty of transmitting the data obtained due to the social structure of Van to exact figures was emphasized. In our multi-dimensional study in terms of gender, marital status, age distribution, professions, religion and ethnic elements, it was observed that there were many variables between the Van society in 1914 and the Van society in 1945.We think that it would not be wrong to say that especially the changes experienced in the Central County are experienced in the form of rebirth. In this respect, we hope to convey to the reader how sharp the social change is in Van’s private readings.
