The aim of this study is to examine the attitudes of managers working in tourism enterprises towards gender discrimination and women employees and to examine the current practices in the business. Phenomenology, one of the qualitative research designs, was used in the study and also semi-structured interview technique was used as a data collection tool. The criterion sampling technique, one of the purposeful sampling methods, was used in the study and face-to-face interviews were made with the managers of 33 tourism enterprises in Ankara. The interviews were held between 1 September - 30 November, 2019. The data obtained as a result of the interviews were analyzed by descriptive analysis, content analysis, and frequency distribution. Findings obtained as a result of the analysis show that tourism business managers have positive perceptions and attitudes towards female employees, but they lack knowledge about gender discrimination and normalize some gender inequality situations in the work environment. In addition, other results obtained from the research are that the current representation of women in the sector at the management level is low, departments and jobs in the sector are separated by gender, the most important factor that pushes women to work is to gain economic independence, and the main reason for women leaving the job is work-family conflict. It is thought that the results obtained from the research will provide positive contributions to the literature and the proposals developed in the research will be beneficial for the applications of tourism enterprises.
