Democrat Party acceded with the elections made in 1950 and they left their task of ten years with the military coup in 27 May 1960. All the things that Democrat Party have done in the time of their administration were used against them at the Yassıada courts and they had trials for the things they have done in. One of those prosecuted was Ibrahim Sıtkı Yırcalı of Democrat Party from Balıkesir.
Ibrahim Sıtkı Yırcalı was born in 1908 Balıkesir. He was educated in law and worked as finance inspector, journalist and lawyer and then he was selected as MP from the Democrat party in the elections in 1950 and entered to parliament. During ten years of government of Democrat Party he was selected as MP for three sessions and he worked as Minister of Customs and Exercise, Businesses, Economy and Trade, Industry and Technology. He was arrested after the 1960 coup and there were many accusations against him starting from breaching the constitutional law. Yırcalı’s trial process was an important part of the things happened after 27 May and also very important part of the Yırcalı’s political life.
With this study, the trial process of the Deputy of Balıkesir İbrahim Sıtkı Yırcalı in the Violation of the Constitution was examined in the light of archive documents, research works and newspapers.
