All missionary institutions have benefited from different media organs while working in different geographies of the world to define their own activities and to collect in-cash support. One of these publications was The American Missionary magazine. The Journal, which was the publication organ of the American Missionary Society was published monthly. The members of the editorial delegation were members of the Calvinist Congregational Church, and the ultimate goal of it is to make Protestantism prevalent and effective all over the world. The American Missionary was a periodical in which donations collected for missionary purposes from around the world are regularly published, but advertisements have been received to contribute to broadcast costs. Morever, ıt consisted of list of missionaries, financial details and also commercials accepted to support missionary activities and the magazine economically. The advertisements published in the journal between 1875 and 1891 will be examined and it will be revealed that missionary activities are not only religious smear behavior, but also commercial concerns advertisements, examined in the article to show that missionaries were all people belonged to this world not only the other world after death and also to figure out that missionary activities had financial aims.
