This study focuses on the impacts of Gypsy/Roma representations on Roma of Biga, Canakkale and how Roma of Biga interpret these representations about themselves. In this context the study is based on the notion of “gypsiness”. Roma of Biga use the gypsiness to describe the way of life. Through the study gypsiness will be addressed as imitating Gypsy/Rom representations by Roma of Biga. Imitating will be discussed with the concept of mimesis, which points out a creative practice, by revealing difference from mimicry. While lots of practices and discourses are expressed under the title of gypsiness by Roma of Biga, gypsiness will be taken through two components in the scope of this study. One of these components is “being cheerful in all circumtances” within humor, the other is secret communication system among Biga of Roma. Through these two component the major concern to be explored is how Roma of Biga use the presentations about themselves through mimesis and what kind of profits they have by this way. Based on the fieldwork conducted between 2012-2016, the research data was obtained through ethnographic method.
