Based on the data concerning foreign trade between 2000 and 2019, this study examines the economic aspect of the relations between Turkey and other Middle Eastern countries. In this context, I aspire to answer the following questions: from the point of view of years and countries, what kind of a picture do trade relations present? What changes have been seen throughout this period? What is the general outlook of foreign trade like? What is the share of the Middle East in Turkey's total foreign trade volume and what has it been like during the period under consideration? Lastly, to what extent have non-economic factors been a determining factor in trade relations between Turkey and other Middle Eastern countries? It can be observed that compared to earlier periods, the relations between Turkey and Middle Eastern countries have been diversified and seen an increase. This picture thus seems compatible with the process of globalization which is characterized by a rise in multi-faceted relations among different countries. This study is based on official figures of the Turkish Statistical Institute various data provided by a number of international organizations. This research has two main findings. First, extraterritorial factors play a determining role on bilateral trade relations. Second, bilateral political and diplomatic conflicts and crisis are not equally reflected on trade relations.
